Modern in a Country Setting

The owners of this property had beautiful mature trees and a freshly-built modern home.  They  wanted to fill in a little under the trees along the road with a garden that would eventually increase their outdoor privacy.  They specified that they wanted more texture and changing interest during the growing season.  The country setting, combined with the wife’s desire for flowers instead of spiky, architectural things like grasses and plants that often accompany modern architecture meant a nature-inspired design, “gussied up”.
